Store: American Items: Original Untouched M1 Helmets

Original American WW2 or Post WW2 Helmets: Do you need an original WW2 Fixed or swivel bale helmet? Do you want to recreate a WW2 M1 helmet from a post war helmet? Do you just want to own an original in untouched state? Well this section will interest all types of M1 Helmet collectors from around the world.

We can supply four basic types of M1 helmet all in original state, ready for you to recreate the ultimate M1 Helmet. You can convert them to Airborne M1C or 'D' bales or why not try your hand at a Ranger or USMC one! Each one of these types comes in various grades of quality, ranging from very rusted, split and stress fractured, through to very light rusting, with only minor blemishes. We can also supply most of these helmets in bulk with a suitable discount! This will be of interest to Film crews, stage productions and WW2 reenactors.

We do NOT have any original 'D' bales available unfortunately. If we do come across them, we are keeping them!

There are four grades to each Type of Helmet. so if you want a Type 2 helmet with Grade 'Well Used' just email me with these details! All payments to be in GBP. These helmets can also be sent direct to USA Addresses at a cheaper cost, see the cost to USA in brackets in the tables below. Use the 'convert' button if you want an idea of how much this will cost in your own currency!

The Grades:

Grade 'Relic' - Generally very rusty, pitted with some holes, several stress fractures, no paint or paint missing or very worn. Medium to Large dents. In some cases battle damaged. Bales are fully intact in most cases. No straps.

Type 2 - M1 Swivel Bale, Front Seam, Stainless Rim:
This type of helmet was produced in 1943 and were issued to troops in late 1944. There is reasonable availability on the open market although prices are increasing as demand is quite high. Example below would be a 'Good' grade as it has small dents on the top of the shell but otherwise would fall into the 'very good' grade.

Type 3 - M1 Swivel Bale, Rear Seam, Stainless Rim: This type of helmet was produced in 1943 and were issued to troops in late 1944. Funnily enough it is thought that this type of rear seam is less collectable, however, there were only a few months difference in the stainless front seam to stainless rear seam production! There is reasonable availability on the open market although prices are increasing, they will cost less on the open market due to higher demand for the front seams! This helmet is graded as 'Very Good' as there is very light rust and no dents or stress fractures.

Type 4- M1 Swivel Bale, Rear Seam, Non-Stainless Rim: This type of helmet is likely to have been used very late war or more likely in the Korean or Vietnam wars. The rim was changed to non-stainless steel in order to prevent reflections. The Korean war helmets are identical to the WW2 helmets however the Vietnam ones have more of a 'slope' to them. This helmet is graded as 'Very Good' as there is very light rust and no dents or stress fractures.
