German Gas
Mask M38 Model: Straight from Hitler's Atlantic Wall
installation at Hanstholm in the north of Denmark. This mask
was repatriated for use by the Danish Fire Brigade after the
German surrender in 1945. Prior to this, the mask was used
in the various bunkers spread across Hanstholm. It has the
following markings:
a. Danish Crown and 'CF' - this indicates post war Danish
Fire Brigade.
b. '2' between the eye glasses - this indicates the size which
is medium.
c. The snout has a triangle with a 'N' and a circle with
'39' - 1939 manufactured snout.
d. A triangle and 'D' between the inside eye glasses.
e. An 'H' in a circle beneath the right hand eye glass.
f. An 'S' in a circle next to the blue air filter & '40'
'6B' & 'S' in a circle beneath the filter.
g. There is a faint Waffen Amt (Swastic & Eagle Acceptance
Stamp) in the inner rim.
This gas mask has the old version attachment
strap buckles not the 1944 versions!
