German Gas
Mask M38 Mode Coloured Eyeglasses: Straight from
Hitler's Atlantic Wall installation at Hanstholm in the north
of Denmark. This 1944 mask was repatriated for use by the
Danish Fire Brigade after the German surrender in 1945. Prior
to this, the mask was used in the various bunkers spread across
Hanstholm. It has the following markings:
a. Danish Crown and 'CF' - this indicates post war Danish
Fire Brigade.
b. '3' between the eye glasses - this indicates the size which
is small.
c. The snout has an oval with 'BMW' and a circle with '+'
underneath.
d. 'BWZ' between the inside eye glasses.
e . 'BWZ' next to the black air filter & '44' beneath
& to the left of the filter.
f. There is '280' to the right of the right hand eyeglass.
This gas mask has the later (1944), version
attachment strap buckles not the 1938 versions and the eyeglasses
are tinted orange.
